This drama series is based on the life of the inspirational Muslim king and military commander Sultan Selahaddin Eyyubi.

Eyyubi (1138–1193), the first sultan of Egypt and Syria and the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, led the Muslim military war against the Crusader nations in the Levant, which included modern-day Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, and certain nearby areas. Following the Battle of Hattin in 1187, he reclaimed Jerusalem from the Crusaders, who had conquered Palestine 88 years before.
