The senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former chief minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi released from prison on Tuesday.

The administration of Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore has verified the release of the former chief minister of Punjab.
Elahi moved to his home, Zahoor Elahi Palace in Gujrat, after being freed.

Elahi showed gratitude for his release in a statement provided by the PTI’s Central Media Department, crediting his determination to divine guidance.

“I thank Allah Almighty for honouring me,” he said while reflecting on his imprisonment. “Allah gave me the strength to remain steadfast,” he said, reiterating his perseverance amid trying times.

The PTI leader also praised the courts for upholding “truth and justice” in releasing him.

He also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for his supporters’ prayers and encouragement. Elahi bemoaned the injustices and persecution that the Gujarati people had to bear.

He made it clear that he would not communicate with his brother Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s children until their mandate was restored.

Elahi described Mohsin Naqvi, the Interior Minister and former interim Punjab Chief Minister, as the major individual responsible for his imprisonment and the injustices he endured.

He reiterated that he would always stand for PTI founder Imran Khan. He said, “I am with Imran Khan, I was with him, and, God willing, I will stay with him.”

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi released by the Lahore High Court (LHC) earlier in the day in relation to the illegal recruiting case.

Overseeing the proceedings was Justice Sultan Tanvir Ahmad. The anti-corruption body launched the complaint two years later, according to Elahi’s attorney, Amir Saeed Rawn.

Additionally, he said in the bail motion that the previous chief minister of Punjab had neither participated in the hiring process nor taken anything in exchange for a position.

When the anti-corruption department raided Elahi’s home, Rawn claimed that they had planted fictitious evidence.
On October 25, 2023, the former chief minister was put into detention, according to the anti-corruption attorney who told the court that Elahi’s case had been submitted legally.
